What: A protest to stand in opposition to current administrative wrongdoings by the director of the Iowa Department for the blind and express discontent with uninformed decisions.

When: Tuesday, September 16 from 10:00 to 11:30 AM.

Where: Outside the Iowa Department for the Blind building: 524 4th St., Des Moines IA 50309

Why:

• The Iowa Department for the Blind needs leadership that understands and responds to the needs of blind Iowans.
• Iowa deserves a Director who respects the history, legacy, and policy-making authority of the Iowa Commission for the Blind.
• The Iowa Department for the Blind requires transparent leadership that works with the staff, clients and stakeholders rather than imposing their own agenda.
• Iowa must continue to base its training center on the Iowa Model; requiring sleep shade usage and full program participation for all students to ensure current and future students get the comprehensive, life-changing, high quality training that they deserve.
